The first film opening from another school that I chose was one called "Mistake by Broken Elephant Productions", on first inspection of this film opening I thought it was very well thought out and well presented. The institutional logo and fonts were good but they weren't really relevant to the genre of horror which I feel the genre of this was. The reasons why I think the institutional logo isn't relevant is because it is an elephant and in horror films you wont see an elephant so if they were to do this again I feel they should change the institutional logo to fit the genre. But at the end of the opening they do actually make the word "Mistake" turn to red when a stake is put through it which does indicate some feeling of relevance. I think that this is the genre of horror because the setting is in a forest and in lots of horrors you see forests and they are seen to be creepy, the second reason I think it is this genre is because you see blood and a dead person on the floor and from audience expectations this tells me it is a horror. The last reason I think it is a horror is because of the non-diegetic music that has been used, this makes it feel like a horror film opening.
The font of the titles in the opening is quite like a Gothic style which indicates to me that actually this could be some sort of supernatural/horror hybrid which doesn't go away from my initial thought of horror but adds some depth into discovering the genre of this piece. When analyzing this I also saw that the first institutional logo is of bat which backs up my second decision on a supernatural/horror and this is also backed up at the end of the opening titles as we see a coffin indicating vampires bringing in the supernatural bit.
The second film opening from another school that I chose is called "Spotlight Love by Cupidz Productions" unlike the other one, right from the off I know that this opening is going to contain some sort of love. I can tell this because the institutional logo says "Cupidz Productions" and as we know cupid is meant to be the love god. The little sparkle animation made the institutional logo not look boring and added that bit of pizazz. I can clearly tell that the genre of this opening is romance. I can tell this because of the institutional logo, the book that says "Spotlight Love" on it, the girl in the piece who is up on stage has been glamorised. and the non-diegetic music is relevant to a romantic film.
The titles in this piece are integrated and have been very well done, they are in a newspaper and integrated in a few places in the opening which I think has been really cleverly though out. I think to improve this piece they could have made the girls voice louder in her bit when she is on stage as it is quite hard to hear and perhaps when cutting to the next clip it could be a bit smoother as it is a little bit jittery at times. Overall this is probably the best opening titles in have looked at so far as I think it meets all of the specification.
