The Opening Titles of the film Catch Me If You Can (2002) gives us a good perception of what is to come in the film, I can tell this because the way they have done the opening titles is to subconsciously tell the story to the audience.
Genre: From watching the opening titles of the clip, I could establish the genre of the film, which I thought it was a mystery/crime/comedy hybrid genre. The reason why I chose this hybrid genre is because within the opening titles animation you follow a man who is tracking down another man and spying on him so therefore that's where I got the crime/mystery from and I got the comedy from who was in the film really who is a very famous actor Tom Hanks, who has a tendency to be funny at times.
Narrative: The narrative was also quite easy to pick up as from what I saw it looks like one man is chasing/spying on another man, he uses disguises to mask himself and blend in with the crowds.
Characters: In the sense of characters in these opening titles I could obviously see that there will be one man chasing another man and you can tell this because the opening titles tell the story of the film, the two main big actors are Leonardo Di Caprio and Tom Hanks and these are male as depicted by the opening titles animation.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere within the opening titles I thought was very mysterious yet happy because the colours are very bright and uplifting yet the animation makes it seem mysterious.
Themes: I think the themes in this opening titles sequence are spy/mystery this is because there seems to be some sort of secretive special mission going on.
Setting: From watching the opening titles sequence I can tell where most of the settings will be which are an airport, an hotel, a hospital and all set in New York. I can also tell that it is set in New York because of the yellow taxi that goes by in one of the scenes in the opening titles and I think that this has a retro feel to it.
Sound: The non-diegetic music in these opening titles is the thing to me that makes it sound retro, it has a fast tempo to it and is also quite tense and I think the music producer was trying to imply these things.
Titles: The titles in this opening title sequence are cleverly done as the animation points to the person who is the actor in the film. Dreamworks are the institution that have made this film and a massive director called Steven Spielberg has directed this film. The titles flow nicely but the positioning of the titles are varied to fit around the animation.
