The Opening Titles for the film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) gives us a really good view of what is going to happen in the film, I can tell this because the way they have done the opening titles is to subconsciously tell the story to the audience.
Genre: From watching the opening titles of the film, I could determine the genre of the film which I thought it was a hybrid of action and crime. The reason why I chose the hybrid of these is because at first you see a load of houses with the lights on and it is dark which gives a view of crime, I chose action because there is a man running from something and he is carrying a gun which normally determines it has some action in it.
Narrative: The narrative was pretty easy to pick up because from what I saw it looks like a man is running away from something and someone is watching him, there has been a crime and some woman is involved with a gun, there is a formal party at someones house connoted by the suits and a girl gets pushed off of a balcony and dies.
Characters: In the sense of characters in these opening titles, I could see there was definitely going to be a main actor and actress in this and I could tell that because the opening titles give the story away of this film. There is a very famous actor in this called Robert Downey JR. and the actress is Michelle Monaghan who is less known but still a very good famous actress.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere within the opening titles I thought it was like a crime scene so it was a bit dreary but the music made it less dreary and the colours were dull and colourful for example the silhouettes of people and then a orange background.
Themes: I think the themes in this opening title sequence are crime/mystery this is because it seems to be very secretive and mysterious but when looking at one of the scenes you can see an outlined body in chalk on the floor so I thought it could be crime.
Setting: From watching the opening title sequence I could tell that the settings in this would be in a city and in a house and I could tell this because you could see these places within the opening titles.
Sound: The non-diegetic music in these opening titles makes it sound quite retro really, it is tense and makes you feel on edge.
Titles: The titles in this opening titles sequence are nicely done I think because the titles nicely wipe left and when one of the titles hit a fence the title split up which I thought was cool. Warner Bros. are the institution that made this film and the main actors and actresses are Robert Downey JR., Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan.
